- The course will open on February 2, 2026 and be available to registered students for 3 months. Certificates will be available for all students that complete the course by April 30, 2026.
- Course registration will remain open until February 27, 2026 – however, course availability will close on April 30 regardless of start date.
Course Description
This Invasive Plant educational course is designed to benefit beginner to professional invasive plant management practitioners, who have 0-3 years of management experience. Course content will include recorded presentations, interviews with land managers, reading material, videos, and quizzes. Industry professionals and experienced practitioners facilitate learning.
Each module consists of learning objectives, topic sections, educational videos/presentations, and closes with a quiz on the material. The modules can be completed and revisited at any time while the student is enrolled in the course.
An instructor will meet virtually with the students ONCE during the course for an OPTIONAL review session. The exact date and time will be set with student input once the course begins.

- Introduction to Invasives in Connecticut
- Invasive Plant Ecology and Identification
- Management Strategies for Invasive Terrestrial Plants
- Management Strategies for Invasive Aquatic Plants
- Management on a Large Scale and Prioritization
- Restoration and Native Plants
- Pesticide Use and Regulations in CT
Participants will also have access to:
- Technical assistance from UConn Extension staff
- Access to resources and tools to support your learning
- A network overview of CT agriculture

What days/times will the course occur?
The course will be asynchronous: you will be able to complete the modules and assignments on your own time as you are available. There is a set starting date and set ending date (February 2 – April 30, 2026); within those dates you can do the work whenever is best for you.
